Hamilton Select Board re-elects Olsen chair, names Myers vice chair in unanimous votes
HAMILTON — April 28, 2026 — Hamilton Select Board reorganizes after election, authorizes $680,000 cell tower lease sale. Newly seated member Lee McCoy joined incumbents William Olsen, Rosemary Kennedy, Tom Myers, and Ben Gluza at the April 28 organizational meeting, where Olsen was unanimously re-elected chair for a second year. Tom Myers was elevated to vice chair in a unanimous 5-0 vote despite Chair Olsen's stated preference for Kennedy, with Gluza nominating Myers as "very aligned to the direction of travel from constituents" following recent special town meetings and elections; Myers cited concerns about "straightforward, factual" leadership before Kennedy responded that she has "always presented well-researched data." Kennedy was unanimously re-elected clerk. The board also voted 5-0 to authorize the sale of Hamilton's telecommunications ground lease at 577 Bay Road to Blue Sky Towers LLC for a lump-sum payment of $680,000, converting a 2016 agreement originally signed with Varsity Wireless LLC and closing as soon as the following week per Town Counsel Lee Smith of KP Law. Three Bay Road abutters urged the board to encourage the Zoning Board of Appeals to rely on Hamilton's own bylaws and document clear legal findings in a pending nonconforming use application at 957 Bay Road, which neighbors say proposes expanding a dormant former service station in a residential zone near two schools.
