Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Hamilton Select Board hears police flag Essex Street as town's worst crash site, approves early voting hours. Chief Edward Guy and Captain Matt Donovan reported 257 arrests, 72,417 logged incidents and 274 crashes investigated since January 2023, with top citations on Bay Road, Essex Street, Highland Street, Walnut Road and Asbury Street; Donovan said the state-owned Essex and Woodbury intersection sees "probably twice as many crashes" as anywhere else in town, with Massachusetts rejecting past town funding requests to fix it. The board voted 4-0 to approve roughly 20.5 hours of early voting the week of October 19 for the November election, and appointed Ashley Serrata, Jean Pagliuca and Elizabeth Ford to the Cultural Council and Council on Aging, each 4-0.
Guy also detailed a staffing shortfall, down three of 16 budgeted officers with a fourth soon deploying overseas. A revised cemetery plot purchase policy and the board's FY28 goals ranking were both continued to a future meeting.
