Board Appoints Green to Zoning Board Seat
Hamilton Select Board votes 4-0 to seat John Green on a short-handed Zoning Board of Appeals.
Select Board · Meeting of August 31, 2026
Hamilton Select Board votes 4-0 to seat John Green on a short-handed Zoning Board of Appeals. Green, a former Marine Corps infantry officer and international-affairs consultant who moved to Hamilton in May, was appointed an associate member through June 30, 2027, after the ZBA dropped to two full members and could no longer act on matters requiring a unanimous three-vote approval, such as variances. Select Board Clerk Rosemary Kennedy told Green that Hamilton "really value[s] the sort of quasi-rural character that we have," while Green said he would guard against "breakneck growth" without "freezing the town in amber." Chair William Olson and members Lee McCoy and Benjamin Galuza joined Kennedy in the unanimous roll call; Vice Chair Thomas Myers did not participate.
Green is due to be sworn in Wednesday at the Patton Homestead before joining the ZBA's meeting that evening, which is expected to continue weighing a contested Bay Road mixed-use proposal.
