Select Board · Meeting of May 18, 2026
Hamilton's Select Board learned the town's drought status was raised to Level 2, triggering a state-mandated ban on daytime mechanical watering. Department of Public Works Director Tim Olson said the restriction, now embedded in the town's water withdrawal registration, overrides local bylaws and no longer requires a board vote, though violations are handled through DPW letters and citations. In other action, the board voted unanimously to appoint real estate broker Amy Wallach to the Hamilton Development Corporation and approved $3,160 from the Hamilton Cemetery's Perpetual Care Fund for annual grub treatment, about $100 more than last year.
Resident Robin Davis asked the board to relocate picnic tables from Cutler Park to the shaded side of Weaver Pond at Patton Park, calling it "such a simple fix." Board members also agreed to review outdated facility-use, water-abatement and sign policies by June 15.
