HAMILTON — The Hamilton Planning Board approved a special permit and site plan for a 110-foot cell tower in South Hamilton and continued a school solar canopy lighting review to June 16. Attorney Brian Grossman, representing applicant Everest (EIP Communications One LLC), said Verizon has a documented coverage gap in South Hamilton, with peer reviewer Michael Lawton of Isotrope backing the need for the proposed height to accommodate two more carriers and the town's relocating public safety radio equipment. The board set an $27,750 performance guarantee for eventual tower removal and approved an eight-foot privacy-slat fence as conditions.
Resident Ben Rivett of 61 Union Street called the tower "a win for the MBTA commuters, the shoppers, the people that use the electric vehicle charger." Separately, Select Energy Development's solar canopy lighting plan for Miles River Middle School was continued 7-0 by roll call to June 16 after the applicant's lighting designer retired mid-project, delaying a required photometric analysis.
