HAMILTON — May 13, 2025 — Hamilton Select Board unanimously moves special town meeting from June 7 Saturday to June 9 Monday evening. The board voted 5-0 at its May 13 Zoom meeting to reschedule the special town meeting to Monday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m., reversing a decision made just seven days earlier. Board members Tom Myers and Bill Wilson cited an influx of constituent emails warning that the Saturday date conflicted with graduations, sports finals, and recitals, and pointed to voter data from Town Clerk Karen Kale showing seniors — roughly 20 percent of the population — represented approximately 55 percent of attendance at recent evening special town meetings. Member Rosemary Kennedy voted yes but pushed back sharply, calling the reversal unsettling and arguing the board was giving outsized weight to one demographic: "Why do we even bother to vote?" The town administrator confirmed that KADA senior van services and Council on Aging volunteers will offer free rides on the night of the meeting, and that residents must register to vote by May 30.
