Hamilton Select Board Approves Town Hall Debt Exclusion Ballot Language for May Vote
HAMILTON — March 31, 2021 — Hamilton Select Board unanimously approves debt exclusion ballot language for Town Hall renovation ahead of May 6 election. The four-member board voted 4-0 at its March 31 meeting to accept question language drafted by municipal counsel KP Law, asking residents whether Hamilton should exempt from Proposition 2 1/2 the borrowing needed to renovate Town Hall at 577 Bay Road, including design, construction, and relocation to a temporary facility, with costs covered by the Community Preservation Fund excluded. Chair Sean Farrell also asked members Rosie Kennedy and Darcy Dale, who both serve on the School Committee, to co-draft an endorsement letter clarifying the project does not compete with funding for a turf field or new school buildings, with the goal of board approval before Monday and delivery to the School Committee ahead of its Wednesday meeting.
