The Hamilton Select Board will hold a public hearing with the Board of Assessors on tax classification, the town announced Nov. 4.

The hearing is set for Monday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. in the Second Floor Meeting Room at Hamilton Town Hall. It will take place as part of the Select Board's regular agenda.

The hearing concerns how the local property tax levy for fiscal year 2027 is allocated among five property classes, as defined in Section 2-A of Chapter 59 of the Massachusetts General Laws. The town said the hearing is required by Chapter 40, Section 56, of the state's general laws, as amended.

The property tax levy is the total amount a community raises through property taxes.
